THE BASEMENT WARS
NOWHERE LIKE HOME Down in the resort's basements levels, ranks 2 through 4 will find their cozy to closet-sized suites all in order as usual. It feels calm and peaceful, and even the strange noises from the maintenance tunnels are surprisingly quiet this week. Perhaps you're on your way back to your room after a night at the casino nursing a hangover and empty wallet, or you're finishing up a new addition to your Game 52 deck. In any case — nothing is amiss. Home sweet home . ▷ With the new influx of arrivals, the halls are a bit livelier than usual. Have you arrived to find a new roommate living next door who you've never seen before? Maybe you should introduce yourself. Hope neither of you snore, because those walls are paper thin , and that definitely goes for... other activities. ▷ Communal bathroom ? Such is life in the basement suites. From the main page , "There is only one communal bathroom for these ranks. There is no gender segregation (or any kind of segregation). Players are welcome to imagine up whatever they would like to find in the communal bathroom. Hair dryers, lotions, sandals, etc. Anything found in the bathroom for character use is low quality." Time to get into the bath with that attractive stranger, because the hot water is a limited resource! Sometimes it even goes out mid-shower, actually, sorry about that. Did you forget your towel? We hope not, because the cleaning staff definitely forgot to restock them this week.THIS IS WAR Unfortunately, the calm wasn't meant to last. Whatever you're doing, wherever you are, you will hear a deafening crash come from somewhere on floor 3. Seems like your neighbors are disturbing the peace. Feeling motivated to rank yourself up yet? ▷ Privacy is so hard to come by on these lower floors, and baby, it's about to get harder! With a crash, thud, or crackle, something or someone has torn a hole through your door or adjoining wall. You're left staring at the chaotic hallway or your neighbor, and they're staring right back at you. Hope your pants weren't down. ▷ If you're there at just the opportune time, then maybe you saw one of these angry young men flinging the other through the wall of the bathroom . Or were you showering in there? Sorry, now you'll have to crawl your way out of a detritus of concrete and tile. Do you need to visit the clinic? ▷ The leaking ocean and giant bugs were bad enough, now there are burst pipes to deal with. Maybe you're unlucky enough that your room's ceiling is dripping. Maybe it's flooding the floor. Tough luck buddy. ▷ Hey, who turned off the lights? For those unfortunate enough to be in the affected areas, the power to your room flickers and dies . Did someone hit the electrical lines or flip the breaker? Are you brave enough to leave your room and find out? ▷ Oops, watch your head ! Did someone just throw a lamp at you? That couldn't have been intentional, right? You should totally give them a piece of your mind—or maybe return the favor. You know which direction it came from, so there can't possibly be a case of mistaken identity here.JUST ANOTHER NIGHT IN POVERTY Eventually, the chaos draws a crowd. People are accusing one another of attacking first, throwing hands, and picking up random items as weapons. Thankfully, there's nothing too dangerous allowed in this resort, but prepare to face flying fists, bars of soap, and... flip flops? Before things get any worse, will you make a break for it, await rescue, or (not for the faint-hearted) join in on the fun? Note from the mods: "Once things escalate, security will be forced to intervene , but they’re slow to respond. Once they’re finished huffin’ and puffin’ down the stairs, any characters found at the scene of the crime(s) will have a cool-off period in the Iron Net. Make sure to run when you hear them coming!"OOC NOTES This is completely opt-in for those characters who are assigned to the lower ranks! You don't have to participate in the fight if you don't want to, and you can pretend your character's room/hall was completely unaffected. Also, any damage caused to the lower levels will repair itself overnight, according to the mods. If your character does get involved or is caught by security, they might be fined for the damage. But feel free to play with as you'd like.
